What is it about dragons that makes them so cool?
They have cool forms , and can breathe fire , and can come in many interesting styles
Many books feature dragons mainly as villians , or as a challenge for the main protagaist.They also describe the dragons and their species as well as their powers and many features that the reader might find worthwhile.
There are a variety of dragon species but all of them have specific attributes that make them unique among their dragon peers.All of them have different areas in which they come from and live in.
Mudwings is a species of dragon from the book called
"Wings of Fire".
This species of dragons live in the Mud kingdom, of their world known as Pyrrhia.They have the ability hold their breath for an hour underwater, breathe fire if its warm enough to (depending on their surroundings), blend into large mud puddles,and are usually very strong.Mudwings are described as thick , armored with brown scales, and sometimes with amber and gold underscales.Their head is large and flat with nostrils on the top of the snout.In this world, dragons are ruled by queens and every kingdom of dragons have a different type of queen.For mudwings, they have Queen Moorhen.
Sandwings are also another type of species mentioned in the book called "Wings of Fire".This species of dragon lives in the "Kingdom of Sand" of Pyrrhia.Sandwings have the ability to survive long periods without water,poison enemies with their stingers(which they have at the end of their tails , shaped like scorpions),can bury themselves un the desert sand to camouflage, and can breathe fire.They are described to have pale gold and/or white scales , the color of desert sand, poisonous barbed tail, and forked black tongues.Unforentally the sandwings have lost their queen, (Queen Oasis) and now her 3 daughters are fighting for the throne, as only the queens sisters and daughters can fight for the throne.
This species of dragon lives high above in the sky kingdom of Pyrrhia (Wings of Fire).Sky-wings are known as powerful fliers and fighters with the power to breathe fire.They have incredible strength and can fight off their enemies and can easily win a fight with most of the dragon species.They are described to have red-gold and orange scales with enormous wings.QUeen Scarlet is the ruler of the Sky-wings.
Seawings are another species belonging to the book , "Wings of Fire".This species belongs to the sea kingdom in the world of Pyrrhia.Seawings have the ablity to breathe underwater like mermaids,see in the dark create huge splashes with their powerful tails, and are excellent swimmers.Seawings have blue, green or aquamarine scales, webs in-between their claws, gills on their necks(to breathe underwater, like fish),glow-in-the-dark stripes on their tails/snouts/underbellies.Queen Coral is the ruler of the seawings.
This species of dragon lives in the Rainforest kingdom in the world of Pyrrhia(according to the book, Wings of Fire).This species of dragon can camouflage their scales to blend into their surroundings, use their prehensile tails for climbing but they have no known weapons.Rainwings are known for napping and for being occasionally lazy in their kingdom.They have scales that constantly shift color, usually bright like the birds of paradise and have prehenisle tails as they live in the Rainforest.Their queen is known as Queen Dazzling.
This species lives in the Ice kingdom (Wings of Fire).They have silvery scales showing similarity to the moon or pale blue like ice, they have ridged claws to grip and climb the ice, forked blue tongues, tails narrow and have a whip-thin end.Icewings have the ability to withstand subzero temperatures and bright light, (because of their habitat) and can exhale a deadly freezing breathe but cant breathe fire like other dragon species.Queen Glacier is the ruler of the Icewings.
Nightwings are also another dragon found in the novel ,Wings of Fire.They are the only species of dragon, whose kingdom, cant be found on the map of Pyrria ,as their kingdom is sworn to secrecy.They have the ability to breathe fire and disapper into dark shadows, read minds and foretell the future.Nightwings are described to have purplish-black scales and have scattered silver scales on their wings underside-resembling stars in the night sky and have forked black tongues.However because they are so mysterious , the orgins of their queen is unknown.
Dragons are featured in alot of books.Books such as the hobbit, wings of fire and more, have featured dragons and their characteristics in each of the novels.In the hobbit, the villian was the dragon known as Smaug was hoarding treasure which was rightfully Thorin's.Thorin and his friends fight and kill Smaug in order to for Thorin to become king and get his kingdom back.The book features Smaug as a greedy, smart and treasure hoarding dragon, which most authors feature dragons to be.In the novel Wings of fire,the death of queen oasis had caused her 3 daughters to fight for the throne and cause an alot war for all the dragon kingdoms.Sandwings and Icewings sided with Blaze,Seawings are allied with Blister and the Mudwings and Skywings allied with Burn.However because Rainwings weren't involved and because Nightwings were to powerful to be apart of the war, only these two species didn't involve themselves in total chaos.Only 5 dragonets can stop the war and put an end to the 3 sisters of destruction which is how the series begins,with 5 dragonets saved by the "peace-makers" of the dragon community.Each of them having different and unique personalities as while has having different physical characteristics like Smaug.
Movies such as the hobbit series, lord of the rings,dragonheart regard dragons as magnificent creatures.They give dragons human attributes which involve the way the dragon acts, has feelings and communicating with humans and its own kind.
